What is AKB-48?
AKB 48 or APINAC is a novel synthetic cannabinoid and research chemical. It is believed to act as an Agonist to the Cannabinoid receptors. Due to its structure it is believed to have a high affinity (potency) for the receptors in vitro (outside living organism).
What is AKB-48 used for?
AKB 48 can be used as a ligand to assay the binding profile it has upon Cannabinoid receptors. It can also be used to assay and profile the affinity and duration of action it has to Cannabinoid receptors in vitro (outside living organism). It is also possible to combust AKB 48 using heat, using the fumes as an effective method to disperse the ligand across an appropriate receptor infused membrane in vitro.
AKB48 may also be used as a reference chemical for the NMR, GC/MS, HPLC and FTIR analysis. These results can be used by toxicology and forensic scientists, or simply to be added to catalogs.
