What is Methedrone?
It (4-methylmethcathinone) is a stimulant which is closely chemically related to amphetamines. Users report that mephedrone produces a similar experience to drugs like amphetamines, ecstasy or cocaine. It is a white, off-white or yellowish powder which is usually snorted, but can also be swallowed in bombs (wraps of paper) and may also appear in pill or capsule form.
Its use as a recreational drug and its toxicity has recently been reported.1,2 it is closely related to mephedrone, a psychoactive compound which is regulated in many countries, including the United States. The hydrochloride formulation of this compound is intended for use as a standard for the forensic analysis of samples that may contain methedrone.
